Big Pine Canyon:
Towering trees and a creek swimming with trout.   Big Pine Canyon is located 9 miles up Crowler St. The campgrounds are in big trees, mostly Jefferies and some Ponderosa Pines, the campgrounds are Sage, Upper Sage Flats, Clyde, Palisades, and Big Pine Creek Campgrounds.  All campgrounds are on a creek that is stocked with trout.  The trails lead to the John Muir Wilderness.Many of these campgrounds are first-come first-served only without reservations.  Even campgrounds that take reservations have some sites dedicated to first-come first-served visitors.  Information on campgrounds that take reservations are below.

The news in the valley is they are already talking about the run off from the snow this season. Telling people to be very careful about being next to streams and creeks. They are letting water out of Lake Crowley in order to make up for the run off. Should be a great season, the trout are going to love the run off. ... See MoreSee Less
