Matagorda Bay RV Park
The beautiful, brand-new Matagorda Bay RV Park is located at the mouth of the Colorado River on Matagorda Island.
Matagorda Bay Nature Park is a 1,600-acre park and preserve at the mouth of the Colorado River on the Matagorda Peninsula. LCRA is developing the park to provide recreation, education, wetlands preservation and economic benefit to the region.
The park has about two miles of Gulf of Mexico and river frontage and hundreds of acres of coastal marshes and dunes. It has one of the best birding areas in the nation. LCRA acquired the property in 2001 as part of its commitment to preserve natural resources for future generations and to provide science education, recreation and nature tourism opportunities.
Reservations can be made through the Texas State Parks at 512/389-8900. If you are just looking for park information, or if you would like to reserve winter stay for more than two weeks, you can call the campground directly at 979-863-7120.
