The beautiful, brand-new Matagorda Bay RV Park is located at the mouth of the Colorado River on Matagorda Island.

Matagorda Bay Nature Park is a 1,600-acre park and preserve at the mouth of the Colorado River on the Matagorda Peninsula. LCRA is developing the park to provide recreation, education, wetlands preservation and economic benefit to the region.

The park has about two miles of Gulf of Mexico and river frontage and hundreds of acres of coastal marshes and dunes. It has one of the best birding areas in the nation. LCRA acquired the property in 2001 as part of its commitment to preserve natural resources for future generations and to provide science education, recreation and nature tourism opportunities.

Double Lake is stocked with bass, bream and catfish. Boaters and fishermen can fish from one of three piers or can take advantage of a limited access boat ramp with parking nearby for trailers. Swimmers can relax on a sandy beach after taking a cool plunge. Only boats with small electric motors are allowed on the 23-acre lake.
Visitors can savor the outdoor flavor by hiking the marked 5-mile trail leading to the Big Creek Scenic Area, an eyeful of nature at its finest. For a longer trek, there’s access nearby to the Lone Star Hiking Trail which offers an opportunity to see the “back country” of east Texas.
In an effort to preserve Double Lake Recreation Area for others in the future, no off-road vehicles are permitted to roam the area. An 8-mile-long mountain bike trail meanders around the lake.

Fall Lake Campground

Fall Lake Campground, MNTotally rebuilt in 2004! Campground has 65 campsites and is located on the shores of Fall Lake, with direct access to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Average summer temperatures are 60-75 degrees in the daytime. Facilities provided include restrooms, boat ramp, picnic tables, fire grates, tent pads and drinking water. We also have canoe rentals as well as camping supplies, pop, ice, snacks and firewood available at the camp store.  Popular activities include fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, biking, and sight-seeing. A popular local event is the Blueberry Arts Festival.  We now accept Mastercard and Visa.

Driving Directions — Fall Lake campground is located about 6 miles east of Ely.  From Ely, travel east on Highway 169 to County Road 18 (Fernberg Rd).  Travel 4.5 miles to Fall Lake Road.  Turn left and continue 1.5 miles to the campground entrance.

Twin Knobs Campground & Beach

Scenic shorelines and camping on 700-acre wooded peninsula on Cave Run. Some electrical hookups, showers, sandy beach, trail, interpretive programs, group use area. Boat moorings.

Yahoo! Travel says “Twin Knobs is a nifty family campground. As well as hiking and biking trails, the campground offers horseshoe and basketball courts, a windsurfing area, and lagoons for tying up boats. Some sites even have views over Cave Run Lake”

Large, mostly shaded campground on 8,300 acre mountain lake. Flush toilets, city water, hot showers, telephone service and some Electric hook-ups. Campground store with ice, firewood, camp gear and food in facility. Paved roads and level graveled site pads for RV’s or tents. Paved boat ramp. Beach area. Lakeside sites available. Popular activities include fishing, nature programs and abundant wildlife viewing. Electric hook-up sites available for an extra fee, collected at the site. The nearest community is 12 miles away.

Scenic vistas of Cave Run on 335 acres. Lakeshore camping, sandy beach. 42 electrical hookups, country store, interpretive programs, boat moorings.

Patagonia Lake State Park

Patagonia Lake is a beautiful lake nestled in the hills near Nogales, south of Tucson and is the centerpiece of Patagonia Lake State Park.   It is conveniently located near a number of top Arizona attractions, including Kartchner Caverns and Tombstone, Arizona.  The lake spans over 250 acres and is 2-1/2 miles long.

Patagonia Lake is popular for a variety of recreational activities, including camping, picnicking, water skiing, fishing, and hiking. Created by the damming of Sonoita Creek, the lake is habitat for bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish, and is stocked with rainbow trout during the winter. For anglers’ sake, the east half of the lake is designated a no wake area. Fishing docks for handicapped anglers is located at the Patagonia Marina and behind the Sonoita Creek visitor center.
