  • Roland Cooper State Park is a beautiful, peaceful campground on the Alabama River in Southwest Alabama. It has 55 RV sites, 15 primitive sites, 12 fully furnished cabins, 2 primitive cabins run from a generator (between hours 6 am-12 pm) a pavilion, boat launch, and Day Use Area. All RV sites have water, electricity, and sewer. The river is well-known for the great fishing. It is also a great place to kayak and canoe. The roads leading to the campground are paved and all sites are level and on a paved pad. Each campsite has a fire pit and a picnic table. There are 4 bathrooms, all are heated, 2 bathrooms have showers with hot water and flush toilets. A dump station is located in the campground at no charge to those who are camping. There are two hiking and biking trails within the campground.

    Campground (70 total sites)

    All RV sites come with full hookup, which includes water, electricity, and sewer. All campsites have a paved level pad, and a fire ring with grill top. Activities include, but are not limited to, basketball, fishing, picknicking, volleyball, and corn hole, which are free to all campers.

    Cabins

    Roland Cooper State Park offers rental cabins! Choose the cabin that is suited best for your camping style. Please plan to bring your own linens (bed sheets & blankets, and towels). There are 3 different floor plans for the fully furnished cabins that run on a 50-amp power supply. There are 2 primitive cabins that are wired for electricity to be run from a generator.

    Cabins 1 through 5 are est. 900 sq. ft., two bedrooms, bath, a full kitchen, living area, wrap around deck with picnic table and chairs. Each cabin is waterfront with a private boat and fishing dock.

    Cabins 10, 11, 24, 31, & 40 are est. 400 sq. ft., two bedrooms, with a queen bed in one room and two sets of bunk beds in the other room. There is a full bath, kitchen, living room, and exterior deck. These cabins are located within the camping loop.

    Cabins 21-1 & 22 are ADA accessible. Cabin 22 is one bedroom with two queen beds, a full bath, kitchen, and living room. Cabin 21-1 is one bedroom with one queen bed, a full bath, kitchen, and living room.

    Cabins P62 & P63 are primitive only--no running water, kitchen, or bath. These cabins sleep up to 4 with a set of bunk beds and a common area with a dining table and futon sofa. Campground bathhouse facilities are a short distance away.

    Day Use

    Activities include, but are not limited to, basketball, fishing, and picknicking which are free to all campers.

    Marina / Boat Rentals (3 total sites)

    The marina is home to boating and fishing, such as kayaking, john boating, bass fishing tournaments, and more!

  • Vista Recreation, in a partnership agreement with Roland Cooper State Park, provide these facilities for your convenience and enjoyment. State Park rules apply to the cabins. The successful operation of this area depends on your cooperation and compliance of the following:

    Campground Rules:

    • Check-out time is 1 PM for RV and 11 AM for cabins.

    • The park is open from 6 AM until sunset. Facilities are for registered guest use only. All visitors must stop at the entrance office before entering. All vehicles including visitors, must display a parking pass to the park in the campground.

    • Camping is permitted at designated (numbered) sites only. A maximum of 8 people are allowed per campsite.

    • No more than 1 camping unit allowed per site: 1 RV or 1 tent. Picnic canopies are allowed, but not for sleeping purposes.

    • Sites in the campground are able to be reserved, some are on a long-term basis, and some are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please ensure sites are not reserved before occupying a site.

    • Unattended camping vehicles and equipment cannot be left at a site unless fees are paid. Rented campsites must have a camping unit present to show the site is taken.

    • All vehicles, including visitors, must display a parking pass in order to park in the campground. A maximum of 3 vehicles are allowed per campsite (if space permits). Vehicles are considered to be any of the following: boat trailers, wheeled camping units, automobiles, or motorcycles. There is a fee of $5/day for an additional vehicle.

    • Performing vehicle maintenance at the campground or adjacent area is prohibited.

    • Golf carts are permitted for use by Vista/TVA authorized personnel only. Motorized scooters are only allowed for those individuals with mobility impairment. Bicycles, skateboards, or scooter riding is prohibited from dusk to dawn. Safety helmets should be worn.

    • Campfires must be contained in metal fire rings. All firewood must be pre-cut and not include construction debris or pallets. Firewood logs cannot be longer than 18 inches. Chainsaws are prohibited. Do not cut, damage, or drive nails into trees. Please do not burn trash in fire rings. All campfires must be extinguished prior to leaving your site.

    • Outside clothes lines are prohibited.

    • Metal detector use is not permitted in the park.

    • Children are to supervised at all times.

    • Swimming is not allowed in the park.

    • Observe posted speed limit signs throughout the park.

    • No washing of campers, vehicles, or boats is allowed in the campground.

    • A dump station is provided and available to registered users. All dishwater must be disposed of at the dump station, and dumping waste or gray water onto the ground is prohibited. Dishwashing is not permitted in the restrooms, water hydrant areas, or any other potable water source. Wash your dishes at your campsite away from water hydrants.

    • All trash is to be deposited in appropriate dumpsters for recyclable and non-recyclable items. Please give aluminum cans to staff members. Please double bag fish debris and dispose in the trash depositories located at the boat ramp.

    • No fish cleaning inside or near cabins. There is a fishing station located beside the camp store.

    • Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Be a good neighbor. Loud noise, music, or generators are not permitted during this time. Thank you for your cooperation.

    • Campers who are disruptive, intoxicated, or behaving in an obscene or profane manner will be reported to the TVA Police, asked to vacate the premises without reimbursement, and will be subject to a ban from a facility operated by Vista Recreation in a partnership agreement with Alabama State Park (ASP).

    Cabin Rules:

    • Check-out time is 11 AM and check-in time is 3:00 PM.

    • The park is open from 6 AM until sunset. Facilities are for registered guest use only. All visitors must stop at the entrance office before entering. All vehicles including visitors, must display a parking pass to the park in the campground.

    • Cabins sleep 4-6 persons.

    • No pets allowed inside the cabins except for cabins 1-5.

    • Maximum 2 vehicles per site. If needed, overflow parking is available ($5 fee per additional vehicle).

    • Performing vehicle maintenance at the campground or adjacent area is prohibited.

    • Golf carts are permitted for use by Vista/TVA authorized personnel only. Motorized scooters are only allowed for those individuals with mobility impairment. Bicycles, skateboards, or scooter riding is prohibited from dusk to dawn. Safety helmets should be worn.

    • No smoking allowed in the cabins.

    • Campfires must be contained in metal fire rings. All firewood must be pre-cut and not include construction debris or pallets. Firewood logs cannot be longer than 18 inches. Chainsaws are prohibited. Do not cut, damage, or drive nails into trees. Please do not burn trash in fire rings. All campfires must be extinguished prior to leaving your site.
